To Bethlehem with King's: Beautiful carols, ancient and modern
CAPELLA REGALIS Men and Boys Choir
under the direction of Nick Halley presents
TO BETHLEHEM WITH KINGS
Beautiful carols, ancient and modern
Tuesday, 20 December 2011, 7PM, Halifax
Capella Regalis Men and Boys Choir is performing its second annual Christmas concert on 20 December 2010, 7PM at First Baptist Church in Halifax.
Under the direction of Nick Halley, and accompanied by Paul Halley in the beautiful acoustic surroundings of First Baptist Church, the 18 boys and 10 adult males of the choir (who are also members of the King's College Chapel Choir), will sing a concert of traditional carols.
The music for this is mostly out of a traditional vein, says Halley, with some of the great carols that bring us straight to the mystical beauty of the Christmas season, together with pieces that run the gamut from 14th century medieval polyphony to Stanfords transcendant Magnificat in G major. There will also be a few stunning arrangements of traditional songs and of course the audience will be invited to join in singing the roof-raising hymns.
