“There has never been a trio like the one-man keyboard orchestra Paul Halley has created for “Triptych”. Playing music that is at once vibrant and intricately contrapuntal, he deploys the instruments with a symphonic sense of coloration. A member of the Paul Winter Consort and former organist of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Manhattan, Halley draws upon the eclectic vision those tenures suggest, including elements of classical and Celtic music, folk songs, and fantasies in his compositions.”

About 'Nick and Friends' Benefit Concerts for Capella Regalis

Each fall, Capella Regalis Founder & Artistic Director Nick Halley chooses one or more of his dearest musician friends from a diverse array of traditions to perform an exceptional evening of music to benefit Capella Regalis’s free music training programs for children. For these musical soirées, we limit the audience size and create intimate and beautiful performance settings to ensure each attendee enjoys a close-up view. The combination of musicians Nick brings together is always a rare treat. The music is followed by cocktails, catered fare, and conversation with the performers, making for one-of-a-kind concert experiences. Past performers alongside Nick in this series include Sri Lankan-Canadian pianist-composer Dinuk Wijeratne and bassist Tom Easley (2022), Syrian oud player Nazih Borish and bassist Roberto Occhipinti (2023), and French-Lebanese violinist and composer Layale Chaker and Syrian clarinetist and composer Kinan Azmeh (2024).

“Paul seems unremittingly incapable of limiting his style. These crystalline recordings do what few organ CDs can; they put the colors, texture, and persuasive power of the pipe organ into highly pleasurable, easily listenable, emotionally unfettered contexts.”
