Episode 3

Notes

    Overview

In this episode, you will learn the names of the lines and spaces in the treble staff. You will also get an introduction to modes and the C-major scale (Ionian mode). You will practice singing a C-major scale. And you will get a first pass at reading the sheet music for "Happy Birthday - not what you think."

The music sheets you will need to use during the video tutorial are provided below.

After you have watched the video tutorial, you should check your understanding by taking the quiz. Then, go to the Activities tab for this episode and complete the homework activities listed. (If you're interested, you can also check out the further reading on modes!) If you have a hard time with the quiz or the activities, we recommend you spend more time with the video tutorial and activities in Episode 3 before moving on to Episode 4.
